WILLIAM FOWLER COLLINS
Lecturer in Electronic Arts

Originally from rural New England, William Fowler Collins is a musician whose work explores and synthesizes both musical and extra-musical elements. Improvisation, field recordings, electric guitar, lap steel guitar, laptop computer, processed recordings, micro-cassette tape recorders, and home-made electronic devices all play roles in the creating, performing, and recording of his music.

In 2004 Collins graduated from Mills College, with an MFA in Electronic Music and Recording Media where he studied with Fred Frith, Annie Gosfield, Alvin Curran, Maggi Payne, Chris Brown, and Pauline Oliveros.

Collins has performed nationally including, in New York at Issue Project Room; in California at the Yerba Buena Center For The Arts, The Headlands Center For The Arts, San Francisco Art Institute, Cafˇ˝ Du Nord, the Folk Yeah Festival 2005, Edgetone Music Summit 2005, 21 Grand,  Kimo's, Mills College, Southern Exposure Gallery, 111 Minna St. Gallery, and The Luggage Store Gallery; in New Mexico at Unit D Gallery, KUNM, The Donkey Gallery, Burt's Tiki Lounge, the IPI Festival, The Stove, Albuquerque Peace & Justice Center; in Denver, CO at Larimer Lounge; and in Tuscon, AZ at Hotel Congress. His music has aired on WFMU, KPFA, KUSF, KUNM, and KZSU.

Collinˇ˝s music has also been featured in international Sound Art exhibits including Casoria Contemporary Art Museum Naples (Italy); Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Santa Fe (Argentina); 2nd Festival International Arte Digital Rosario (Argentina); Offizyna Art Space Szczecin (Poland); and FILE - Electronic Language Festival Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

He has toured with Brightblack Morning Light and has shared bills with Ikue Mori and Matmos.

Collins released his first full-length CD, "Western Violence & Brief Sensuality" in 2007.

BRIAN KIMURA

Lecturer in Electronic Arts

A native New Mexico resident who creates mixed-media and NetArt works dealing with memory and language, sometimes combining how the two coexist in forms of Websites, paintings, and video. His work is influenced by his experiences growing up and his recent interest in language and placement of typed language in the Media, such as online news media.

He received his BA in Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico in 2003 where he studied painting and drawing, electronic media, and computer science.

Kimura has shown work locally in Albuquerque, New Mexico, including the Albuquerque Natural History Museum, Masley Gallery, and John Summers Gallery.
